Welcome to Waverley Education Foundation Trust
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Waverley Education Foundation Trust (WEF).
Since joining the Waverley Family I have been honoured to serve both the local and wider community. WEF is a Multi Academy Trust that operates Waverley School and Waverley Studio College, supporting the education and development of over 1,900 pupils across our trust. We are committed to excellence, offering a range of services that enhance learning and leadership to improve outcomes for all young people.
Waverley School: A Seamless Journey from Primary to Sixth Form
Waverley School is a 4–19 all-through school, welcoming students of all abilities and backgrounds. From the moment children join us in Reception, we lay the foundations for their success throughout their educational journey.
“The all-through provision enables pupils moving from primary to secondary to build on their prior learning.” – Ofsted 2021
As one of the few schools in the city with a Special Needs Resource Base for both primary and secondary students, we take pride in delivering an inclusive and adaptive curriculum.
“The curriculum for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is adapted well to meet their needs.” – Ofsted 2021
Waverley Studio College: A Pathway to Success
Waverley Studio College, which opened in 2013, provides a specialist education for students in Key Stages 4 and 5. With a capacity of up to 300 students, we offer tailored academic and vocational pathways that prepare learners for their future careers.
In our most recent Ofsted inspection (September 2022), the college retained its ‘Good’ grading, with inspectors highlighting:
“Pupils behave well in lessons and around school. They get on well together.”
Unlocking Potential, Inspiring Excellence
At WEF, our mission is to help every student reach their full potential. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum where academic excellence goes hand in hand with a love for the arts, music, and sport.
Our Sixth Form provision is highly popular, offering both academic and vocational pathways. Many of our students successfully gain places at their first-choice universities, opening doors to exciting futures.
Our Values: HEARing Every Student
Our trust is built on four key values:
• Humanity: Cultivating kindness and empathy
• Equality: Ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed
• Aspiration: Encouraging ambition and a drive for excellence
• Respect: Fostering a strong sense of community and self-discipline
These values underpin everything we do, helping students aim high, work hard, and develop their intellectual and personal strengths.
“Pupils have a strong understanding of diversity, respect, and tolerance, including for different family lifestyles.” – Ofsted 2021
The Waverley Learner
Throughout their time at WEF, students develop into Waverley Learners—individuals who are:
• Independent enquirers
• Creative thinkers
• Reflective learners
• Team workers
• Self-managers
• Effective participators
A Partnership for Success
Success at WEF is built on a strong partnership between school, students, and families. We believe that when:
• Parents/carers have high aspirations for their child
• Staff have high expectations for themselves and their students
• Students have high aspirations for their own future
…we create an environment where every child can thrive.
I look forward to working with you and welcoming you into the Waverley Family.
Mr C. King - Executive Principal
